Summary of treatment
This cotton bonnet with silk trim by the New York-based children’s wear designer Lillian Brogan (1890/1-1949, active from c. 1916) was badly creased from flat storage. The back of the bonnet was filled with acid-free tissue, and a supportive mount was constructed of polyester batting and Ethafoam covered with silk knit. A custom, drop-front box was built from blueboard, with a lifting tray at the base lined with Volara. The ribbon ties were rolled over stockinette-covered paper tubes and interleaved with acid-free tissue.
