Designer Collaboration

This “dog purse” is a recreation and reinterpretation of an earlier work by jewelry designer Daniel Jocz, which was made for a retrospective exhibition at the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, Massachusetts.

Jocz sourced a dog mannequin, which I used to drape a new “garment” in muslin. Together we devised a new surface design, which I transferred from colored tissue paper to create a patchwork pattern. Meanwhile Jocz refined the design of the the two-piece handle, which was fabricated in aluminum with a magnetic closure.

The final design was assembled in brightly dyed leather using nylon thread. Snap plackets at the rear allow the purse to be easily taken on and off the mannequin for display.
